Roberto Sánchez Picasso

Originario de Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas, se graduó con honores de la Licenciatura en Música con especialización en Guitarra Jazz & Pop y énfasis en Producción en el Conservatorio de Utrecht, Holanda. Es Maestro en Pedagogía de las Artes por la Universidad Veracruzana, donde desarrolló la tesis “La Educación del Jazz en México: Contextos, Teorías y Aplicaciones. Una aproximación pedagógica para la contextualización metodológica y didáctica”.

Ha ofrecido conciertos, clases magistrales y conferencias en festivales e instituciones educativas en México, Costa Rica, Estados Unidos, Austria, Bélgica y Holanda. Cuenta con cinco grabaciones discográficas a su nombre. Fue coordinador del festival Jazz Tam Fest 2011 y guitarrista del sexteto de jazz Orbis Tertius de la Universidad Veracruzana. Además, se desempeñó como coordinador del Departamento de Guitarra Jazz (2014-2020), coordinador artístico (2014-2016) y coordinador de cursos preparatorios (2014-2016) en el Centro de Estudios de Jazz de la Universidad Veracruzana.

Actualmente es profesor titular de tiempo completo en la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH), donde imparte teoría, improvisación, guitarra y ensamble en los programas de Licenciatura en Música y Maestría en Producción Artística. Es autor del libro Introducción a la Improvisación en la Guitarra Jazz y Contemporánea y actualmente cursa el Doctorado en Educación, Artes y Humanidades, un programa conjunto de la Facultad de Artes y la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UACH. Paralelamente, continúa activo en la escena del jazz en México.

Originally from Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas, he graduated with honors with a Bachelor's degree in Music, specializing in Jazz & Pop Guitar with an emphasis on Production from the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands. He holds a Master's degree in Arts Pedagogy from the Universidad Veracruzana, where he developed the thesis *"Jazz Education in Mexico: Contexts, Theories, and Applications. A Pedagogical Approach for Methodological and Didactic Contextualization."*  

He has performed concerts, given masterclasses, and delivered lectures at festivals and educational institutions in Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. He has five recorded albums to his name. He was the coordinator of the *Jazz Tam Fest 2011* and guitarist for the *Orbis Tertius* jazz sextet of the Universidad Veracruzana. Additionally, he served as the Coordinator of the Jazz Guitar Department (2014-2020), Artistic Coordinator (2014-2016), and Coordinator of Preparatory Courses (2014-2016) at the Jazz Studies Center of the Universidad Veracruzana.  

Currently, he is a full-time professor at the Faculty of Arts at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH), where he teaches theory, improvisation, guitar, and ensemble in the Bachelor's in Music and Master's in Artistic Production programs. He is the author of the book *Introduction to Improvisation in Jazz and Contemporary Guitar* and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education, Arts, and Humanities, a joint program between the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at UACH. Simultaneously, he remains active in the jazz scene in Mexico.
